Dr. Lisa Hara Levin is our “Ivy League” connection and our veterinarian at the North Phoenix location.  With academic backgrounds from Yale, Cornell and Tufts Universities, Dr. Levin completed her postdoctoral training in Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. For the past twenty years, Dr. Levin has had a distinguished career in both the university and animal welfare settings (which, she is quick to point out, are not mutually exclusive). She has been a recipient of grants for her academic research, as well as for her projects which have served to enhance animal well-being.  Dr. Levin’s experience has allowed her to serve in such diverse positions as the Director of Veterinary Services for the largest animal sheltering system in the state of New Jersey, as well as an investigator into alternative methods for traditional animal use in research.   Clinically, Dr. Levin is interested in the control of animal overpopulation (seventeen years of practice in the spay and neuter of pediatric and adult animals), preventive medicine (disease prevention through annual physical examinations, vaccinations, certain blood tests, and disease-preventing medications), neurology (nervous system diseases), and pain management (a hallmark of patient care at the North Phoenix location).
